Finding the pattern

Parents plan a lot for their children - education, support, hobbies, sports. In all these activities the child will perform differently based on his/her interest, skill, strength. It is the parent's duty to see the pattern in the performance of the child. This finding is extremely important at every stage in child's development but more so in the early years.

Parenting needs a lot of patience, especially if it has to be good parenting. Therefore, all activities of child's life have to be analysed with patience. Only when we see some trend emerge, we can conclude that the child loves a certain activity over the other. Is the love for the activity sustained over a period of time or was it just a passing charm? Once we understand's child's interests over many different activities over a certain period of time will we be able to help the child plan for future. This pattern finding can include judgement of just parents, other well wishers could also chip in with opinions. Data, if available, can help take better decisions.

Some examples of pattern finding are:

 a. The child loves creating drawings rather that solve puzzles.
 b. The speed of maths calculations is much faster than speed of generating new creative literary ideas.

Parents can understand a child's personality in great detail by doing this deliberately.

Stay tuned and stay connected
